The people of Hereford Community Farm pride themselves on growing delicious produce from our organic vegetable and herb gardens. As part of our healthy eating programme, we promote a balanced diet and help people to grow and prepare their own meals, incorporating safety in the kitchen when using specific appliances and utensils.
We stimulate an interest in tasty, nourishing food and encourage people to experiment with dishes and flavours from around the globe. Recipes are shared and adapted, providing a range of options for people with varied health needs.
Arts for Wellbeing
The ability to express oneself without expectation or limitation can have tremendous healing potential. Hereford Community Farm offers a broad variety of arts and crafts that offer the opportunity for individuals of all abilities to explore their creative talents. People are given the freedom to choose which artistic pursuits they'd like to follow, using a variety of media both indoors and outdoors, in a supportive and nurturing environment. These activities have been proven to offer an opportunity for self-expression and personal growth.
Our collaboration with other organisations within the community has enabled skills and resources to be shared and provided an opportunity for us to demonstrate the therapeutic power of arts and crafts to a wider audience.
The first of our collaborative events, "Arts for Wellbeing", showcased the creative talents of people from Hereford Community farm. Hosted at The Courtyard theatre in Hereford on 4 December 2018, the exhibit featured demonstrations of green woodworking and peg-looming. Further events have been planned for 2019, so watch this space!
